Mounting The Box |
|
Equipment Area Requirements Mount the box (and all other outdoor electrical devices) at least 5 feet away from the pool or spa. In Canada, this distance is extended to 3 meters. ALWAYS mount the enclosure with the conduit knockouts on the BOTTOM. Mount the enclosure in an area is free of obstructions and is not totally enclosed. This will allow the unit to properly dissipate any heat from the inside of the enclosure. Consider the length of the sensor wires and valve actuator wiring when mounting the box. Note: The air temperature sensor wire is 10' long and must be mounted in a location that is not affected by sun exposure. A longer Air temp sensor can be obtained as an option. Mount the enclosure in such a way that a homeowner and/or service person will have unobstructed access to open the door, manipulate any installed Breakers and use the Service Panel. Make sure there is unobstructed access to the right side of the box. This will assure easy installation and inspection of the bonding lug on the box. This will also assure easy access to the underwater light GFCI that is installed in the box and allow the homeowner and/or service person to properly test and reset it. Mount the enclosure securely so that the mounting will withstand the weight of the box, conduit attachments, and the stresses of the installation process. Mounting the unit to wooden posts or a surface or structure that may not outlast the pool installation is not recommended. |
