Adding The Wireless Gateway |
|
The Wireless Remote Management Gateway is Required to Communicate with the Internet Web Server, and then Wirelessly to the Pool Control System. Note: This Installation Guide applies to the Balboa Wireless Remote Management Gateway with Firmware Version 1.2. A. System Requirements The Wireless Remote Management Gateway requires an always-on connection to the Internet such as that provided by a DSL or Cable connection. Dial-up connections are not supported. A Network Hub or Switch may be required if the Local PC is connected directly to the DSL or Cable Modem or if all available Local Network Connections are used. A PC with a Web Browser connected to the Local Network is required to access the Wireless Gateway’s Internal Web-based Interface to monitor Status and Configure the Wireless Gateway. Windows 2000 or XP is required to run the various Utility Programs and Upgrade the Firmware in the Wireless Gateway. B. Firewall Considerations All Network Connections between the Wireless Gateway and the Data Server are initiated by the Wireless Gateway, eliminating the need to open any Ports on your Network’s External Firewall. Note: Software Firewalls running on your PC, such as the Windows Firewall, ZoneAlarm, and Norton Internet Security will interfere with the various Utility Programs used with the Wireless Gateway. The first time you run one of these Utility Programs, the Firewall will display a dialog box informing you that a Program is attempting to access the Network. You must allow these Connections in order for the Programs to work. Consult your Firewall Program’s Documentation for Instructions on how to allow these Connections. C. Controls And Indicators The Wireless Remote Management Gateway has Three LED's on the Left Side, identified as the Status LED, the Link LED, and the Activity LED.
Also on the Left Side are the Train/Reset Button, a Receptacle for the Ethernet Network Cable, and a Receptacle for the AC Power Adapter Cable.
